BAHA Summer Hats For Adults
When the sun comes out, one of the first things most of us reach for is a sun hat. For BAHA wearers, it isn’t always so easy, as wearing a standard hat with a bone anchored hearing aid can be uncomfortable and cause interference issues. However, the good news is that it is still possible to wear a hat with a bone anchored hearing aid.
For adults, we have a wide selection of great hats to choose from including trendy reversible bucket hats, ladies summer hats and baseball caps to help adults and teens stay cool in the heat.
These are all fully customisable to accommodate your type of hearing aid and whether or not you wear a single or bilateral BAHAs. They’re also available in a wide range of colours and fabrics.
BAHA Summer Hats For Kids

Looking After Your BAHA In Summer
Wearing a bone anchored hearing aid shouldn’t stop you from having fun in the sun. However, summer can present some unique challenges for BAHA wearers.
Summertime often means spending more time outdoors, where your BAHA may be exposed to excess moisture – whether from a sudden rain shower, splashing water at the pool, waves at the beach or simply sweat!
While your BAHA can handle a certain degree of moisture, the processor should be kept dry as much as possible, so it’s a good idea to think about how you’ll protect your hearing aid if you’re planning to spend time at the pool or on the beach. Some people find it’s not an issue to go without their BAHA for short periods, whereas others might wear a swim cap or carry an umbrella, for example.
A drying jar is a great investment for BAHA wearers all year round, as it helps remove excess moisture from your hearing aid processor to protect it and ensure it stays working as it should.
You might also want to invest in a spare headband or two in case yours gets wet or dirty, as this will allow you to continue wearing your BAHA while you hand wash and dry your original headband,
Bone anchored hearing aids are designed to work in any and all climates, but that being said, you should try to avoid leaving your hearing aid processor somewhere that it might overheat, such as a car dashboard on a very hot day.
You’ll also want to look out for sand getting into your processor as this could potentially cause issues or mean that it doesn’t work as well as it should. You can clean your BAHA processor with wipes to remove things like sand, sweat and sunscreen but remember that your processor should never get wet!
