Microtia UK is a national charity dedicated to supporting children, adults, and families affected by microtia and atresia. The charity hopes to ensure that no one has to navigate the impact on hearing, surgery decisions, or emotional challenges alone. Our mission is simple: to provide clear information, compassionate support, and a strong community for everyone.
Their Story
Microtia UK began with a small group of three parents, called Liz, Ali and Hana, who shared the same experience – raising children born with microtia and searching for answers, reassurance, and connection. What started as a support group, quickly grew into something much bigger.
Recognising the need for a dedicated space where families could learn, share, and feel understood, Liz, Ali and Hana came together with clinicians and advocates to form a charity built on lived experience and expert knowledge. Their goal was to create the support they wished they’d had from the beginning.
They now work closely with medical professionals, researchers, schools, hearing specialists, and other charities, to ensure that every child and adult with microtia has access to the information, care, and community they deserve.
