What Is a BAHA Bucket Hat?
BAHA hats work in a very similar way to BAHA headbands. They’re designed to hold your BAHA processor in place so that it can receive vibrations and transmit these through the skull bones to your cochlear where they can be turned into sound.
If you’ve tried to wear a standard hat over your BAHA, you will probably have noticed that not only is it uncomfortable and tight but that the hat interferes with the performance of your hearing aid. This is because BAHA sound processors are delicate electronic devices and can be sensitive to interference so shouldn’t be covered.
BAHA bucket hats, on the other hand, have a custom hole (or holes) specially designed to accommodate your BAHA processor, meaning you can wear both your hearing aid and a hat without any problems.
There are a few considerations you’ll need to make for your new BAHA bucket hat, such as where you want the processor to sit and whether or not you wear bilateral hearing aids. If you wear two BAHAs then you will need to measure the distance between each processor and supply this when ordering, so we can ensure that the holes are in the perfect place!
