We’ve previously blogged about how to keep your hearing aid in place and what a BAHA headband is made from. This week we’re talking about how often you should change your BAHA headband and how best to look after it.
When Should I Take My BAHA Headband Off?
One of the key things to be aware of is when you can (and can’t) wear your BAHA headband. Your BAHA headband is designed to be worn all day and to withstand all kinds of everyday activities, whether that’s work, school, sports or days out. You can even wear it when riding a horse or a rollercoaster! However, you will need to take your BAHA headband off when you have a bath and for showering, swimming and sleeping.
Caring For Your BAHA Processor
Taking care of your BAHA processor on your headband is very important and you should always follow the manufacturer’s instructions about how to clean and maintain your processor. BAHA processors aren’t waterproof so if moisture manages to get into the processor, you may need to use a hearing aid dryer kit to dry it out. You can also get protective covers for your processor, which can help keep it safe from dirt and wet weather and are also useful if you have a baby or very young child who wears a BAHA headband as it can stop saliva and food from entering and damaging the processor.
Are BAHA Headbands Washable?
Unfortunately, BAHA headbands can’t be machine-washed or tumble-dried but all our BAHA Accessories headbands can be sponge-cleaned as needed with warm, soapy water and air-dried, making it easy to keep them looking and smelling fresh.
When Should I Replace My Headband?
How long your BAHA headband lasts will depend on a range of factors, such as how worn it is. BAHA Accessories headbands are long-lasting and hardwearing, meaning they can often last for an absolute age! However, if your BAHA headband is overly stretched or very dirty then you may wish to replace it. Likewise, if your headband is lost, broken or no longer provides a good fit, then you’ll need to order a replacement. Typically, people order a new BAHA headband not because their old band is worn out but because they fancy a change and want a headband in a new colour, style or design!
